Orange Poppy's NEW Kids Sewing School Beginning Machine Sewing for Kids ages 7+ January 16th & 30th, Feb 6th, 13th & 27 Thursdays 6-7PM *Some hand-sewing knowledge is suggested but not required Skills You’ll Learn: Threading and setting up a sewing machine and bobbin Sewing Machine Operation and Problem-Solving Use of sewing tools (shears, seam ripper, tailor’s chalk) Marking, pinning, and sewing seams & More! After the basics, we will work on projects based on your child's skill level. We hope to continue monthly if this is a popular class. Class includes all fabric and supplies needed. We have 2 student machines, if you have your own sewing machine please bring that as it's best to learn on the one you will be using. My grandmother taught me how to sew starting at about age 6 or 7 and I've been doing it ever since. I believe that sewing is a life skill that everyone (Boys & Girls) should know. It is a fun and relaxing hobby that also can challenge your brain at times, making it all the more gratifying! I believe that children can do hard things! I believe they are more free, creative, and capable than we allow them to be sometimes. So, all my sewing workshops will be structured to give them the freedom to make creative choices and help them be more confident and successful!
